Mount Říp
Mount Říp: the heart of Czech history
Head to the place which, according to Cosmas’ magnum opus, the Chronicle of Bohemians, was settled by the first Slavs to arrive in the area, led by forefather Čech, after whom the Czech Republic is named. A number of trails lead to the mountain. You can approach from the north on the red trail from Roudnice nad Labem, which you can easily reach by train from Prague. After reaching the top of Mount Říp, you will see the noted Romanesque St. George’s Rotunda. Sports fans can head off on one of the cycling paths below Mount Říp.
