Every year the International Music Festival Brno includes an Easter Festival of Sacred Music between Palm and Pentecost Sundays. The dozens of concerts by mainly choirs, symphony orchestras and solo singers usually take place in religious buildings, such as the Baroque church of St. John or in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Old Brno.
The festival dates back to 1992 and is the first festival of its kind in the Czech Republic. It responds to the constant interest of listeners in concerts of sacred music thematically connected with the liturgically significant period of Easter.
