The best work of Slovenian architect and urban planner Jože Plečnik (1872-1957) includes sacral structures.
The jewel among them is the Church of the Sacred Heart in the Prague district of Vinohrady. It recalls the mystical works of ancient Egypt, with its wood-paneled interior symbolizing the safety and surety of Noah’s ark. The bell tower with copper dome and cross is visible in the panorama of Prague from Prague Castle, the look of which Plečnik also had a major role in.
