The château is in sight from the Švihov water château in the village of the same name. It was built in 1611 by Mikuláš Šic of Drahenice, in the place of an older fortress owned by Mladota of Jelmanice. It belonged to the Imperial family In the 19th century and acquired by the state when Czechoslovakia was founded. The château was not devalued by any later reconstructions.
