Giant Red Crab or Transformer

With its distinctive colour and design, it is strikingly reminiscent of a giant red crab. Some see it as one of the popular Transformers. Either way, the state-of-the-art multi-purpose cultural hall in Karlovy Vary has attracted a lot of attention since it opened.

Unique technology in Czechia

And rightly so! Its unique look and technology won it the main architectural award for the best new building in Czechia in 2024.

A huge red crab has taken up residence inside the Imperial Baths, a beautiful neo-Renaissance building next to the luxurious Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary. Not only for the West Bohemian spa region, visited by people from all over the world, it takes the cultural experience to a whole new level.

The building of the Imperial Baths itself, which can be reached by a beautiful walk along the spa colonnade from the Brutalist Thermal Hotel, another exceptional piece of Czech architecture, past the pretty theatre and healing springs, was unique in its time.

Tours of the "red crab"

It housed an innovative system using prepared tubs of healing peat, which were carried to the individual rooms by special "robotic" lifts.

This new attraction in Karlovy Vary is variable, and will be adapted to the needs of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, theatregoers or film fans during the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
