Ostrava Observatory and Planetarium
Would you like to try what it's like to steer a spaceship or how high would you jump on the surface of the Moon? Fancy seeing the starry sky during the darkest night unencumbered by the light smog of the modern world or learning something interesting about the universe? Head to the Ostrava Planetarium!

Modern technology and Experimentarium not only for children

The Ostrava Observatory and Planetarium can be found in the quiet surroundings of a forest park outside Ostrava in northern Moravia. You can look forward to a planetarium with a rich programme full of projections, a multi-storey Experimentarium, a lecture hall and an observatory with an outdoor amphitheatre.

Thanks to the modern technology of the planetarium in the projection hall, you will see a night sky as dark as few other places in the world today! And thanks to the projection into the dome instead of the flat ceiling, you get the feeling that you are in the middle of the universe.

In the Experimentarium you will have a lot of fun and learn plenty of interesting things thanks to the interactive exhibits.

Want to see the stars for yourself? In the evening, if weather permits, the local observatory will show you constellations, planets and possibly comets through a large telescope. The start of the public viewing depends on sunset times, which vary throughout the year.
