Leoš Janáček International Music Festival
Many towns and cities of the Moravian-Silesian region will not only be resonating with classical but also jazz music and folklore.
The Leoš Janáček International Music Festival was established in 2018 by merging two important classical music festivals bearing the name of Leoš Janáček: Janáček’s May and Janáček’s Hukvaldy. It is chiefly dedicated to promoting Leoš Janáček works and to classical music. The main centres of the festival are Ostrava and Hukvaldy – the death and birth places of Leoš Janáček. The concerts also take place in other towns and villages of the Moravian-Silesian region.

The festival offers more diversified programmes including, for example, the folklore on which Janáček based his works, the return of opera performances to an amphitheatre, etc. In Ostrava, the festival makes use of unconventional spaces for holding both concerts and relatively numerous accompanying events.
