Winter in Brno with an Air of Mystery
Enjoy a winter wonderland in the second largest city in Czechia. The snow-covered streets of Brno’s historical centre will take you to dreamy squares, to the romantic castle, elegant parks or to the house where Mozart once spent Christmas. After an enjoyable stroll, warm up in one of the many cosy cafés or restaurants. Brno is famous for high-quality gastronomy.

Ingenious Brno

Start your tour of the city with a stroll through the park known as Denisovy sady. You’ll experience the romantic atmosphere below the snow covered treetops and the local terrace will reward you with a breath-taking view of the whole of Brno!

Walk up a few steps to get to the impressive Gothic St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Don’t be surprised when the bells chime noon at 11 o’clock. It is a reminder of the genius trick used when Brno was besieged by the Swedish army.

Festive Brno

Follow the picturesque alley from the cathedral to the square known as the Cabbage Market. There you can warm up with some hot mead at the Advent market before the holidays and imagine what it was like when 11-year-old Mozart played at Christmas in 1767 in Reduta – one of the oldest theatre buildings in Central Europe. And where did he spend Christmas Day? Most likely in the palace on Kobližná Street where he was staying with his family.

Mysterious Brno

If you’ve had enough romance and would like to experience something mysterious for a change, explore the square from underneath – under the Cabbage Market, you’ll find the passages of the mysterious medieval labyrinth! Other underground places are also open in winter, such as the Ossuary at St. James, the second largest one in Europe after Paris, the mysterious underground passages at Špilberk Castle or the magical spaces of the historical cistern that looks as if they came out of the Lord of the Rings. The castle is also worth a visit. It is especially magical when it snows... And how about the zoo? Watching the polar bears playing in real snow is a true spectacle!

Unique Brno

Brno is full of charming places for romantic winter strolls, picturesque squares or magnificent churches... But only the unique Functionalist Vila Tugendhat is inscribed by UNESCO. You simply cannot leave Brno without seeing it!
