A cave near the South Bohemian city of Tabor was discovered while work was going on in a quarry in 1863. Five years later, it became the first cave accessible to the public in the Czech lands at that time. Of special attention are the circular formations on the walls of the cave, which were created by alternating pale layers of marble and dark layers of amphibolite. Also in the underground you can see a stone devil, dragon’s head, a mysteriously lit witches hearth or the Žižkov shooting range, which consists of recesses in the ceiling that resemble holes made by cannonballs.
