You can find a pearl in the village of Hoslovice in the undulating landscape of the Podlesí area of the Šumava Mountains – the unique site of a watermill powered by water from a small overlying pond. When you visit it, you will see how people lived in bygone days.
It is situated 17 kilometres southwest of Strakonice. Original farming equipment with a functional milling plant and domestic animals create an authentic picture of the past life of the mill. The powerful story of the Harant family, the last millers, will impress you as well. The atmosphere is completed by regular craft events, demonstrations of agricultural production and country games for children that are held under normal circumstances. You can also see and sample the baking of fresh bread.
Several traditional Czech fairy tales have also been shot in this charming place.
