Church of St. Moritz and Church of St. John the Baptist in Kroměříž
The veil covering Kroměříž’s history may be lifted in the Church of St. Moritz, one of the largest Gothic structures in the Czech Republic. It is located right next to the Archbishop’s Grammar School on Stojanovo Square.
Both buildings are connected by a passageway hidden within the walls, which leads all the way to the chateau.  The church was built for Bruno von Schauenburg, Bishop of Olomouc, during the reign of reign of King Ottokar II of Bohemia. Over the course of its history the church has undergone several significant changes, mostly in connection with the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years’ War. In its vicinity there is the subsidiary Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist, built in the 18th century by the chivalric order of Johannites on the site of a smaller Romanesque church.
