The Church of St. Wenceslas in Břeclav is the fourth church to stand on this site. It was preceded by a Baroque church from 1756, which was completely destroyed by Allied bombing at the end of the Second World War. The present building was completed in 1995.
This unusual structure has an attractive modern interior. The cross above the altar is a copy of a Gothic crucifix based on one from the Týn Church in Prague. The triple-towered church contains three bells. In the basement of the church is a permanent exhibition which traces the different stages of the church through its Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and current incarnation. There is also a lecture hall here where you can see remains of the Romanesque walls from the first church on the site.
