The Mánes Exhibition Hall

The Vltava riverside in Prague attracts visitors for romantic strolls throughout the year. There is always something happening there. When you go explore the busiest area along Rašínovo nábřeží (between the Dancing House and the National Theatre), you will definitely notice the tall Renaissance tower with dark bricks, leaning against a low block with large windows... And this is the legendary Mánes Exhibition Hall.

Both the building and grand piano are restored

The central space of the building is the main exhibition hall, designed for organising exhibitions of various fields of art at a global level. The central part of the exhibition hall goes to the level of the second floor and it is illuminated by a glazed steel gabled roof. Downstairs, there are two multipurpose spaces for organising seminars, workshops, or auctions.

The Renaissance water tower with a typical bulb tower has been overlooking the riverside for several hundred years and the low, glazed functionalistic Mánes building joined it at the beginning of the 1930s. It soon became an architectural legend and one of the most important centres of the Prague social and cultural life. In 2012-2014, the entire Mánes building was reconstructed. The original restaurant with a terrace and ceiling frescos by Emil Filla were restored, as well as the Steinway grand piano from 1897 that Jaroslav Ježek used to play, which can now be found in the café.
