Rock, pop and jazz as well
In the first half of October, make sure you don’t miss the Jazz Goes To Town international music festival in Hradec Králové, with this year’s slogan being 30 Years of Hope and Understanding. This year, you can look forward to Peter Evans, an American musician who is unquestionably a master of advanced trumpet techniques. This year’s Prague Sounds music festival, which has been delighting audiences for 26 years now, starts on 3 November and presents a selection of music you won’t hear anywhere else. It will feature artists such as American rapper and singer McKinley Dixon, as well as New Orleans-born Branford Marsalis, an award-winning saxophonist. This Prague festival is so special because it features performances in the best venues! Concerts will be held, as always, at the Rudolfinum, which has a dress code, as well as at La Fabrika or Lucerna Music Bar.
The Czech Philharmonic and the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution
If you’re more into classical music, we recommend seeing the concerts by the Czech Philharmonic, a world-class professional ensemble from Prague. They give regular concerts all year round in the Rudolfinum, their home ground. However, to mark the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, on 16 and 17 November the Czech Philharmonic will play two unprecedented concerts.
