Ridge Trail: From Sandstone Viewpoints to Mountain Meadows
Our tip: Don’t forget to stop by Fláje Reservoir, the only pillar-supported water reservoir in Czechia.
One of the most spectacular trails in the Ústí Region runs along the Ridge Trail – a historical long-distance path linking Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland with the Krušné Mountains. The first part takes you through a landscape of majestic sandstone towers. Viewpoints such as Rudolf’s Rock and Belveder offer unforgettable views: rugged rocks, deep forests, and tranquillity disturbed only by the wind and birdsong.
In the second part, mountain ridges of the Krušné Mountains await: Komáří hůrka Hill with its lookout tower and charming mountain chalet, or Nové Město and the areas around Měděnec or Nová Ves v Horách, where tranquillity and traditions of the old mountains still breathe.
Central Bohemian Uplands: A Region of Volcanoes and Castle Mysteries
Our tip: Set out to the legendary Mount Říp.
The Central Bohemian Uplands look like something straight out of a fairy tale. The gently rolling countryside, full of contrasts, has volcanic origins: steep basalt cones rise from fertile fields, old castles tower above vineyards, and the views are truly unique. Milešovka, the windiest mountain in Czechia, offers a 360° panoramic view of the entire region, while the neighbouring, less-known peak of Lovoš serves as a quiet guardian over the River Elbe, free from crowds of tourists.
The unique Trail through the Land of Castles will lead you to ruins such as Házmburk, where you can imagine the tales of knights from long ago. And the views? The viewpoint from the ruins of Vrabinec Castle, perched on a rugged rock, rewards you with vistas of the River Elbe meandering through the landscape. Another point where the river enters the Central Bohemian Uplands via the valley known as Gate to Czechia - Porta Bohemica – is not far from the Kalávire Nature Reserve.
Our Tip for a Trip

Romance Among Vineyards: Climb from Libochovice to Házmburk

Route length: 5 km (one way), approx. 1.5–2 hours at a relaxed pace
Difficulty: Medium
Start: Libochovice(square).
From Vlastislav, follow the country path winding among vineyards and pastures. While walking, enjoy wide-open views of peaks such as Milešovka and Lovoš, and to the west, the dominant landmark of the entire region – Házmburk.
The impressive Házmburk Castle with its twin towers rises majestically above the surrounding fields and forests. If you’re lucky and set out at the right time, you may experience a magical sunset there.
Return by the same route. Once again, enjoy panoramic views that change with the daylight.
Cycling: Following the Trails of History and Nature
Our tip: Visit the historic towns of Litoměřice or Roudnice nad Labem, with the Lobkowicz family chateau.
The Ústí Region is an ideal place for cycling. The Elbe Cycle Route is one of the finest cycling paths, combining natural beauty with historical landmarks—you'll cycle along the Elbe Canyon, visit Porta Bohemica and Roudnice nad Labem, explore historic Litoměřice, taste wine in Žernoseky, and near the city of Ústí nad Labem, stop by the impressive Střekov Castle, which inspired composer Richard Wagner, or the stunning chateau in Děčín. Another route follows the River Ohře, leading to the UNESCO-listed hop-growing town of Žatec. For experienced cyclists, there are more demanding routes in the area of Czech garnet through Milešov Uplands or the Krušné Mountains Cycle Route, which will guide you through Klíny, the Museum of the Ore Mountains on Lesná, or the historic mining gallery at Mědník.
Relaxing at a Spa: Where Beethoven Discussed with Goethe
Our tip: Lázně Teplice boasts a beautiful historic centre.
Teplice is not only one of the oldest spa towns in Central Europe, but also a place that attracted some of the most important cultural figures of its time. The renowned German poet and writer Johann Wolfgang Goethe met there with the world-famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven. You can also enjoy pleasant relaxation at Lázně Mšené or at the picturesque spa grounds in Klášterec nad Ohří.
