Prague: Ideal for an Autumn Romance

Don’t miss a visit to the Prague Castle in the capital city, from where you can walk down through the dreamy alleyways of Malá Strana to the famous Charles Bridge, built in the fourteenth century. You should also check the Old Town astronomical clock, the oldest functioning clock of its kind in the world. Walk through the collections of the National Gallery in Prague; admission is free for people under 26. The nearby castles of Křivoklát and Karlštejn are also great for a romantic trip! 
 
In addition to the numerous traditional pubs, such as U Fleků, you’ll find a lot of modern restaurants in the town, such as Vozovna Stromovka, hipster cafés in Vršovice and the Manifesto Market in Smíchov. Also, visit the Prague embankment with original cells or the Lucerna Music Bar for some fun and refreshment.
 
Fancy something unusual? Experience a mirage, an upside-down room or lie down on a bed of nails in the interactive Museum of Senses. And those who love modern art simply must stop at the Holešovice DOX, Pragovka Art Gallery↗ or the new Kunsthalle↗ gallery in Malá Strana

Brno: Between Prague and Vienna  

The majestic Špilberk Castle from the thirteenth century, rising above the historical centre of the town, is the dominant feature of the Moravian capital,. You can also take a trip in a two-deck boat (until the end of October) along the Brno water reservoir to the nearby Veveří Castle

Check one of the many expositions in the Moravian Gallery. The Technical Museum has an exposition on Leonardo da Vinci this year. Or visit the newly opened underground reservoirs below Žlutý kopec that look like the underground cathedrals in the Lord of the Rings and that are open to the public also thanks to Hollywood filmmakers. 

Enjoy the unrepeatable atmosphere and long drinks in the Czech and Asian style in the wildest bar called the Super Panda Circus. Or choose from an excellent offer of special beers in the Na stojáka↗ pub at the Jacob Square. Or do you prefer a concert? Go out to the popular local club  Fléda↗ where you can let your hair downat a dance party.

Ostrava: The Steel Heart of Czechia Is the Greenest City in the Country

Ostrava has gone through an amazing transformation in recent years. The former steel heart of the Czech Republic has turned into a green oasis offering diverse cultural events. The Lower Vítkovice remind us of the industrial past of the city, dominated with the unique Bolt Tower with a scenic terrace set on top of a blast furnace. Get under the ground and explore the dark nooks of the former Anselm mine in the nearby Landek Park in the company of rough  miners!
 
If you are interested in art, visit the Ostrava Plato Gallery or the Art Gallery where you will find original Klimt’s painting called Judith.

You’ll have a blast in the Stodolní Street. There are 70 bars and clubs where thousands of people have fun every weekend. A few streets over, you can enjoy a great cup of coffee at the Čauky Mňauky Café, full of purring cats! The Hogofogo Bistro↗ offers all kinds of trendy delicacies, including burgers, pho bo, cheesecakes and mini doughnuts, as well as original refreshing long drinks.

Olomouc: The Imperial Fortress Protects a UNESCO Masterpiece

The 32-metre-tall Holy Trinity Column, inscribed by UNESCO, a pride of the historical capital of Moravia, will take your breath away. It is situated in the Horní Square, also adorned by the Gothic-Renaissance town hall with an astronomical clock that starts on noon every day.

You can admire ten Baroque fountains in the centre, inspired by stories from Ancient Roman and Greek mythology. Do not miss the Olomouc castle area with Wenceslas Cathedral at the Wenceslas hill! Go on a tour of the Museum of Olomouc fortifications at Fort XVII or the interactive expositions, science workshops and the digital planetarium in the Fort Science Museum. They remind us of the times when Olomouc used to be an imperial fortress.
 
And at Svatý Kopeček, near Olomouc, you can see the monumental Baroque Basilica of the Annunciation and also visit the zoo with giraffes, African ungulates, Scandinavian fauna and the largest shark tank in the Czech Republic.

 

Plzeň: Taste the true Pilsner Urquell in the Beer Capital!

When visiting the beer capital – that’s what Plzeň is called as the famous Pilsner Urquell has been brewed there since 1842 go on a tour of the brewery where this beer legend was born. Also, visit the exhibition at the occasion of 180 years of Prazdroj in the Brewery Museum where you will learn everything about the history of the beer.
 
There are other tourist attractions in Plzeň. The historical centre is dominated by the Gothic St. Bartholomew with the highest church tower in Bohemia where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the region. Also, visit the Great Synagogue, the third largest of its kind in Europe. And if the weather is not the best, go explore the large medieval underground or the Techmania Science Centre with numerous interactive exhibits.
 
On 28 October, Plzeň celebrates the anniversary of the Republic every year, opening interesting sites and tourist attractions to visitors either for free or for a symbolic price. You can look forward to guided tours, excursions, visits to gardens, round trips in historical public transport vehicles or the street food festival, DEPO Street Food Market. The event traditionally ends with the evening fireworks at the Republic Square.
