Spring: Romance Beneath the Almond Trees

In spring, nature awakens, and so do our romantic hearts. In the heart of Prague, the blossoming slopes beneath Prague Castle invite you for a stroll. The air is filled with fragrance, there’s a breathtaking view from Petřín Lookout Tower, an ideal spot to pause. The promenades along the Vltava River, where you can take a boat ride or relax in the park, are stunning, as are the romantic walks on Kampa.

Hustopeče

On the other side of Czechia, in South Moravia, the picturesque town of Hustopeče boasts almond orchards in bloom. Visitors are captivated by a sea of white and pink blossoms. Walking among them is an extraordinary experience. You’ll take home not only a lifetime memory but also stunning photographs. From the lookout tower, you’ll have the entire area at your fingertips.

You can also enjoy almond delicacies there – from almond coffee to liqueur. The orchards are open all year round. In the autumn, you can enjoy almond picking and a picnic among the trees. In Hustopeče, wine harvest festivals are also held, where you can taste local wines and treats. Would you like to learn more about wines in Czechia? Discover more here!

Summer: Hidden Underground

Hot summer days are perfect for exploring mysterious underground spaces. The Old Town Hall in Prague houses a complex of medieval halls and corridors that take you back to the 12th century. Walk through Romanesque and Gothic chambers, see a cistern, and visit a spot where prisoners long ago left their marks on the walls. Just across from the Town Hall, you can purchase Czech delicacies in the centuries-old cellars at a place called 420 Restaurant.

Another treasure is the House at the Lords of Kunštát in Prague’s historic centre. This unassuming house hides, alongside a modern bar, the best-preserved original Romanesque residential space in Prague.

Open-air cinemas in the Czech Republic are a popular way to enjoy films in a pleasant atmosphere under the open sky. These cinemas offer not only great movie experiences but also a unique ambiance, enhanced by the summer weather and beautiful nature. Among the most visited open-air cinemas are those in Prague (which operate in Riegrovy Sady, at Vyšehrad, on the roof of the Trade Fair Palace, and on Střelecký Island), Brno (at Špilberk Castle), and Pilsen, but in 2024, the most popular was the open-air cinema in Boskovice. Every year, a music festival takes place in the town’s historic center, featuring a unique Jewish quarter.

Underground tours are also available in Znojmo (in the wine region), Brno, the second-largest Czech city, and Plzeň, famous for its beer.

Autumn: European carp fishing championship

Czechia is a paradise for anglers, boasting a rich fish-farming tradition. Festive fish harvests are not only popular pre-Advent events but also among the most photogenic experiences. At Rožmberk, the largest pond in Czechia, the harvest takes place from 17 to 19 October 2025. The misty atmosphere and silhouettes of fishermen create an unforgettable scene.

The pond landscape of Třeboňsko, a UNESCO-listed site, offers dozens of other ponds where you can join similar harvests. You can purchase fresh fish or sample fish specialities on the spot.

Don’t miss Stairs2Hell – the European carp fishing championship, held from 4 to 11 October 2025 at Nové Mlýny. Around 300 competitors from all over the world are expected.

Winter: Lamplighter on Charles Bridge

Advent in Prague
is enchanting. One unique experience is the lamplighter on Charles Bridge, who lights the historic gas lamps every afternoon from early December until 23 December. Dressed in traditional uniform and accompanied by Christmas carols, he creates the atmosphere of "old Prague."

Night skiing in the mountains (Špindlerův Mlýn, Ještěd and Monínec) and ice skating in town squares are lovely winter experiences.
