If you are spending your winter holidays with your kids, or are beginners at downhill skiing, like long-distance ice skating and other unusual sporting experiences, head to the Lipno Ski Resort. Here you will find the longest ice skating track in the world, an ideal setting for downhill and cross-country skiing, a skicross track, and a snow park.

The ski resort is located in the heart of the Šumava Mountains in South Bohemia, right next to the Lipno Reservoir, which is the largest one in the Czech Republic. Here you will find more than 13 kilometers of slopes. You can get to the top comfortably on one of the four chairlifts.

A little adrenaline and lots of fun

The motto of the Lipno Ski Resort is “the perfect family holiday”, and so for the kids, there are children parks with carpet lifts, a ski carousel, and a fairytale slalom. Entrance to the park is free. In addition to ski and snowboard lessons, your children can also enjoy Thursday children's races, afternoon animation programs, and evening sledding and bobsledding under artificial lighting.

And what's more, if you buy a one-day family ski pass during the weekend, you will get a discount.

For snowboard or freestyle skiing enthusiasts there is a snow park where you can test your skills on three platforms, including a straight and bent box, wallride, and bonk. There are also two parallel skicross tracks with a tunnel, banked turns, terrain waves, and jumps.

Set off on the longest skating track in the world!

Do you like ice skating? Then you could not find any better place than Lipno! As soon as freezing weather arrives and the ice on the Lipno Reservoir reaches a safe thickness, you can swap your skis for skates and head to this 11-kilometer skating track which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest skating track in the world! And don’t worry, of course, you can rent skates here.

If you are a cross-country skiing enthusiast, you will also find what you are looking for here. Just put on your skis and set off on more than 50 kilometers of machine-groomed trails from which you will see many beautiful parts of the Šumava countryside.

Where else to go?

During your holidays in the Šumava it would truly be a tourist sin not to visit Český Krumlov, which is located just a few kilometres from Lipno and is one of the most beautiful European cities on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You can delight your taste buds in the world-famous city of České Budějovice, home of the original Budvar (Budweiser) beer. Or let the spirit of the Middle Ages sweep you away in the magnificent spaces of the Cistercian monastery in Zlatá Koruna.
