The surrounding landscape with the unique network of fish ponds and artificial canals, as well as with the preserved architecture of historical towns and villages rank Třeboňsko, the area around Třeboň among the most beautiful areas of South Bohemia and the whole Czech Republic. In the area of Třeboň (Třeboňsko), exceptional natural and technical monuments have been preserved thanks to the landscaping and water management interventions of our ancestors.
The extraordinary natural values led to the classification of the Třeboňsko area in the UNESCO network of biospheric reserves in 1977 and to the proclamation of the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area in 1979.
