The Pelhřimov region can be described as a hilly landscape full of small chapels, churches and wells.
The region has a distinct mountain foothill character, the highest peak of which is Křemešník, 765 metres above sea level, where in winter you can enjoy a ski slope and in summer a view from the Pípalka lookout tower. The Želivka River springs from the Pelhřimov area and supplies the Švihov water reservoir, which provides drinking water for a large part of Prague and Pelhřimov. The monastery in Želiv is a popular destination, and the originally Gothic Kámen Castle documents the era of the 13th century.
