It takes only minutes from Prague before you are in Kladno. There are a number of places reminiscent of the time when coal and iron ore were discovered in the vicinity. These engineering landmarks are certainly not a must and you can also enjoy a look at the historic center and the many other attractions in the area.

Museum, bears and château park

The former managing director’s villa of Poldina near the Kladno Ironworks houses a permanent exhibition of the Sládeček Museum of Natural History, dedicated to the city’s history from prehistoric times to the present day. In the old part of the city you will also discover a château and park with the remnants of the city’s walls. It is a nice place to relax, and a local curiosity is a small bear garden, which is home to two bears.

Explore the history of Kladno!

An open-air mining museum was opened on the site of the listed Mayrau mine, where coal was mined until 1997. All the buildings of the abandoned shaft look as if the miners had left only yesterday. In addition to old mining machinery, you will also find here an observation tower and a gallery dedicated to industrial art.

Where to go for a trip?

Various forms of entertainment for all lovers of water sports are available at the Kladno water park with its extreme water attraction spacebowl.
