This festival, which was first held more than a hundred years ago, has been regularly organized since 1933, with the exception of World War II. The celebrations are held at several locations in the historic center of Mělník and at the castle, where you can see fencing contests, period dancing, music and jugglers. There will also be several scenes with concerts associated with a toast – rock and country groups will perform along with jazz and punk. The highlight of the celebration is Saturday evening, when the city welcomes Karel IV and his retinue so that they can inspect the vineyards and taste the wine from vines he had imported all the way from Burgundy. In honor of his rare visit, a fireworks show will be held, and wine lovers can enjoy the wine market and wine scene on Peace Square.
