The Bedřich Smetana Museum in Prague
Located on a splendid spot by the Vltava with a view of the Prague Castle is the building of the former Old Town Waterworks, which houses the Bedřich Smetana Museum. Its location near the river is quite significant, because Vltava is the name of one of Smetana’s most famous compositions.
The museum was founded in 1926. Its expositions are focused on the life and work of Bedřich Smetana and it includes various personal items and documents of the time that are related to the great composer’s life, including Smetana’s piano. You can also examine copies of Smetana’s letters or handwritten music scores, extensive picture documentation or an exposition devoted to Smetana’s family. There is, of course, the chance to listen to audio samples of his works as well.
