National Museum of Agriculture
Forestry, game keeping, fishing, farming, food-processing, gastronomy and other fields important for the existence of our civilisation can be found all together in the National Museum of Agriculture. The museum has exhibition spaces all over the Czech Republic and, thanks to its interactive elements, you can personally try a lot of the exhibits.

A picnic meadow on the roof

In addition to permanent expositions in Prague, the National Museum of Agriculture also offers expositions in its regional branches, short-term exhibitions, seminars for the public, an archive, photo-archive and a library. The functionalistic building in Letná in the vicinity of the National Technical Museum underwent reconstruction that was completed in 2017. On the roof of the building is a lookout terrace with a picnic meadow, offering a spectacular view over the city of Prague. Aside from the smell the herb garden, you can also rent some picnic equipment, buy some quality Czech food in the museum shop, and enjoy the amazing scenery.

A shed full of tractors

In the main building in Prague, you can see the permanent exhibition of historical agricultural technology. On an area exceeding 500 m², there are the twenty most important items from the agricultural technology collection. The exposition is interactive and further includes a worksheet for visitors, game consoles, educational programmes or a tractor shed for the littlest of visitors. There is also an exposition dedicated to recycling and food distribution; you can see an interactive water circulation in nature, and children will definitely love the Discovery Room – a large laboratory where various trials are performed.

The oldest in Europe

The National Museum of Agriculture was founded in 1918 but its oldest part, the museum at the Ohrada hunting lodge, started its activities in 1842. It is apparently not only the oldest specialised forestry-hunting museum in the Czech Republic, but also in Europe. Today, the Museum has branches in Central Bohemia in Čáslav in South Bohemia , at the Kačina Chateau in Ohrada, and in South Moravia at the Valtice Chateau.
