The Krkonoše Museum, housed in the 16th-century Jilemnice Chateau, focuses primarily on the history and folklore of the western Krkonoše Mountains and the beginnings and development of Czech skiing.

Remarkable nativity scenes

You will be captivated by the unique Metelka Mechanical Nativity Scene from 1883-1913, as well as other pieces from the extensive nativity scene collection.

World's finest linen

Equally fascinating is the rich collection of folk furniture, weapons, and hunting trophies, an extensive set of guild funeral shields, graphic art and map collections, and don't miss the world's finest linen thread. 296 metres of the hand-spun fiber from the late 18th and early 19th centuries weighs only a single gram!

Harrach and the first skis in Czechia

A separate chapter is dedicated to the noble Harrach family, who brought the first skis to Czechia and after whom one of the most famous mountain resorts in the Czech Republic is named. Visit the count's office, bedroom, dining room, salon, and ladies' parlor precisely where they were located 110 years ago.

Amazing landscapes on canvas

Also of interest is the exhibition of artworks by local painter Kavána, whose works from that period are now considered part of the golden fund of Czech landscape painting.
