Hiking - Discover the beauty of the Giant Mountains

Špindlerův Mlýn is the ideal starting point for hiking in the Giant Mountains. Take the adventurous route to the Luční bouda chalet via Kozí hřbety, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the avalanche slopes and valleys. Another popular route is a trip to the source of the Elbe, where you can call in for a bite to eat at Vrbatova bouda, which is a memorial to Bohumil Hanč and Václav Vrbata, two pioneers of Czech skiing. If you’d prefer a less demanding walk, we recommend one of the trails in Špindlerův Mlýn itself, such as the Miller's Nature Trail, which starts in the town park and offers beautiful views of the Elbe River. Another attraction that can be reached on foot from Špindlerův Mlýn with little effort is Pančava Falls, one of Czechia’s most beautiful waterfalls, which is worth a visit not only in spring, when it has the most water.

Biking tours: cycling along the trails of the Giant Mountains

Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy a wide range of biking trails in Špindlerův Mlýn. Try the route along the Elbe, which will take you to some lovely parts of the Giant Mountains with beautiful views and pleasant stops along the way. For more demanding cyclists, there are mountain trails of varying difficulty, such as around Medvědín, where you can catch a cable car to take your bike up to the top and enjoy an adrenaline-fuelled ride downhill. If you’d prefer something a little more laid back, the cycle paths in the valley of the White Elbe stream are ideal for family trips. Plus, e-bikes come in really handy in the mountains, making your journey easier and allowing you to explore even more beautiful places without breaking a sweat.

Fun for the kids

Špindlerův Mlýn is a great place for a family holiday, with lots of fun for children and their parents. Visit the town aquapark, which has pools with massage jets, water attractions and slides. For adrenaline junkies, there’s a bobsleigh run with some spectacular views, while children can have a blast in the rope centre at the Monkey Park. Another attraction is the tourist train, which takes the whole family around the area and offers the opportunity to get to know Špindlerův Mlýn from a different perspective, even with the children in tow. During the summer, there are also a number of cultural and sporting events to keep the whole family entertained. Children can try archery, horse riding or take part in fun workshops and competitions during the summer holidays in July and August.
