Warning: Extreme rainfall and flooding have hit Czechia
Unfortunately, meteorologists' predictions have come true, and almost the entire territory of the Czech Republic has been affected by extreme rainfall, strong winds, and overflowing rivers in many areas. The worst situation as of Monday, September 16, 2024, is in eastern parts of Czechia (Moravia and Silesia), but transportation issues may arise nationwide.

Check the latest information

It is advised not to travel to the northeastern areas of Czechia. The cities of Ostrava, Opava, and Krnov are dealing with the aftermath of floods, while the southeastern part of the country around Brno and Břeclav also faces water-related complications.

The situation could change dramatically in north Bohemia around the cities of Mělník, Děčín, and Ústí nad Labem, or in south Bohemia around České Budějovice and Český Krumlov. As of Monday, September 16, 2024, the western part of Czechia has escaped the extreme conditions, and Prague remains safe for now, but the situation could change very quickly.

Expect complications in rail and bus transport, and many roads in affected areas have been undermined. Due to the extreme weather, many events across the Czech Republic have been cancelled, with more social and cultural events likely to follow. Please check whether the event you plan to attend is still scheduled.

Ensure your safety and avoid traveling to high-risk areas.
