The crystal chandeliers adorning the palace in French Versailles, trophies for the winners of Tour de France and Daniel Swarovski – the founder of world-famous company manufacturing cut crystal glass. What do they have in common? They all come from the Crystal Valley in the Liberec Region. This is where they started to melt crystal clear glass in the 17th century: glass with such purity, brightness and hardness that made it especially suitable for engraving. This is where Czech crystal was born.
Glass goes with Czechia like porcelain goes with Meissen, whisky with Scotland and chocolate with Belgium.
