The Jihlava region lies on both sides of the former boundary between Bohemia and Moravia. It is quite ragged because it mostly falls within the area of the Jihlava Highlands, the highest peak of which is Javořice (837 metres). This region is also adorned with a UNESCO site – the historic centre of Telč with its château. In the forests between Telč and Třešť rises Roštejn Castle, and Třešť itself is famous for its nativity scenes, the making of which has been a tradition for two hundred years.
