A Hiker’s Heaven

Pec pod Sněžkou is an important alpine resort for winter and summer recreation and an important tourist centre. The town is in the Hradec Králové Region in the north-east of Bohemia. The town only has 600 permanent residents but it is always full of tourists, whether it is summer or winter. No wonder. Pec pod Sněžkou is surrounded with a lot of mountains and peaks. In the north-east, there is the wooded Růžová hora (1,396m), in the north there are the three highest mountains of Krkonoše – Sněžka (1,603m), Studniční hora (1,554m) and Luční hora (1,555m).

Such conditions make this place perfect for tourism. In the surroundings, there are many hiking trails and it is only up to you to decide whether to hike up Sněžka or just wander through the countryside with romantic scenic views. However, you should definitely take the cable-car directly from Pec pod Sněžkou to Sněžka and hike down past Obří důl.

You can rest in the local Relax Park later while your children frolic on the 700-metre-long bobsleigh track, in the climbing centre or in the playground.

A Skier’s Paradise

While you will be charmed by Pec pod Sněžkou in summer, you will love it in winter when the town plays its ace card – SkiResort Černá hora – Pec, which is the largest ski resort in the Czech Republic. You can enjoy ten ski-lifts there, one four-seat cable-car and many ski slopes with various difficulty levels and lengths. Thanks to the new ski-pass, you can ski on 41 kilometres of slopes and ski trails every day. The SkiResort is formed by 5 interconnected resorts in Janské Lázně, Černý Důl, Svoboda nad Úpou, Velká Úpa and Pec pod Sněžkou.
