The North Bohemian city of Most, which disappeared from the world during the 1970s because of coal mining, can now be seen only in old photographs and the displaced Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Due to its extraordinary architectural value, this jewel of the late Gothic era was relocated by rail in the autumn of 1975 to a new spot 841 meters distant. The church has become a symbol of the ruined city; the interior includes a collection of Gothic and Renaissance art from northwestern Bohemia, and you can also get off at the tower and walk along the walkway.
