The Shroud of Turin, mummies, the oldest wooden church in the Czech Republic, splendid baroque architecture, and a rock town. These are the biggest attractions of the town located in a basin almost on the Czech-Polish border, whose life revolved around the Benedictine monastery for centuries. Let yourself get enchanted by the mystical beauty of a place where you will feel as if time has stopped…

Discover the Broumov treasure and immortals

Not so long ago, a precious treasure was found in Broumov. But don't imagine a coffer full of gold and pearls. We are talking about a copy of the Shroud of Turin, in which the body of Christ was allegedly wrapped after he was taken down from the cross. However, this is not just any copy. In the world, there are only forty of those that actually touched the genuine Shroud of Turin! And what more! In Central Europe north of the Alps, you won't find any other than the one in Broumov. Would you like to see it with your own eyes? Join a guided tour of the impressive baroque complex of the Broumov Benedictine monastery! You will learn, among other things, about the mummies that are hidden in the crypt under your feet. In addition to the founder of traditional lacemaking, even the so-called fext, i.e. immortal, rests underground!

Wooden survivor

What also seems to be "immortal", is another jewel of Broumov - the cemetery church of the Virgin Mary, which is the oldest preserved monument of the folk wooden sacred architecture in the Czech Republic. The others in the region were replaced by brick buildings, and thus the Broumov group of churches scattered across the charming landscape surrounding the town was created. This collection of pure Czech Baroque is so exceptional that it is striving to be registered on the UNESCO list. You just cannot miss it!

What's on the menu? Rock mushrooms!

Who has not been to the sandstone rock city of Broumovské stěny, it is as if he has not even been to Broumov! This giant natural gallery of various rock formations with fairy-tale names, such as Lucifer, Devil's Mother-In-Law, or Stone Gate, gorges and viewpoints is simply a must! And do not overlook the local rarity which has no parallel in the Czech Republic – rock mushrooms of Slavná. No wonder this sandstone labyrinth is a National Nature Reserve.

Are you still hesitating to visit Broumov? Perhaps the local brewery, where one of the oldest monastery beers in Czechia is still brewed today, will be the last cherry on the cake that will convince you to visit the town… Cheers!
