The Svoboda Glass Factory in Karlov
Glass making has a huge and long tradition in the Czech Republic. Glass is made in the country not only in serial, bulk production, but there are also several original high-quality workshops where beautiful artworks are created.
One such workshop is the glass factory founded by artist Jaroslav Svoboda in 1990 where hand shaped glass is made in many different colour versions. The glass factory is situated in the small village of Karlov in Vysočina, near Žďár nad Sázavou (150 km east of Prague in the Vysočina Region) and its portfolio is quite broad: from vases, candlesticks to plates or lights.

You can visit the glass factory on workdays from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and watch the masters at work. Not only the glass factory is attractive; there is also an extensive sample room with more than 1,500 exhibits. The tour of the factory also includes the opportunity to paint on glass.
