Puppet Museum in Plzeň – The story on a thread

Two puppet masters, who succeeded in making an impact abroad, were active in the west Bohemian capital of Plzeň, an hour’s drive from Prague.

In the exhibition you’ll find information on Josef Skupa, who travelled all over the world with a pair of puppets that represent father Spejbl and his rascal son Hurvínek. The museum houses a multi-purpose hall where you can learn various ways to manipulate puppets. And if you wish to stay in this world of wooden figures a little longer, you can borrow a portable puppet theatre for CZK 150 per day and go to a nearby park to enjoy a fairy tale afternoon according to your own script.
