The Slovácko Wine and Open-access Monuments Festival is one of the most important events of its kind, presenting the richness and diversity of the traditional folk culture of the region around the Moravian wine town of Uherské Hradiště. You will see performances by dozens of folk ensembles, dulcimer music and brass music bands, you can also look forward to a large faire of folk crafts, attractions for children and free tours of many monuments in the city and its vicinity. The main programme begins on Saturday with a costumed procession from the wine cellars in Mařatice to the main square. There will be a parade of costumed dancers and musicians through the city, traditional Slovácko feasts, evening entertainment in wine cellars and the nomination of the Czech Wine Salon for the Slovácko subregion. And if you want to experience something curious, come and see the Slovácko butter-churning contest!
