Your Guide to Concerts in 2020
We are bringing an overview of the best events you can see on the stages of concert halls when visiting the Czech Republic. For example, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, and Eric Clapton will perform in Prague, and compelling personalities of contemporary music such as Thom Yorke will also make appearances. Top jazz instrumentalists and rappers will make their way through the country. Simply put, there will be plenty to choose from!

FEBRUARY

Kiefer Sutherland, a 53-year old Canadian, may be best known as Jack Bauer of the TV series 24, but he’s not just an actor. In the last four years, he has released two albums on which he plays the guitar and sings songs inspired by country and rock music. He will perform at the Lucerna Music Bar in Prague on 15 February.

Suzi Quatro, the energetic and sparkling first lady of rock and roll is coming to the Czech Republic with a dense rock show in support of her new album No Control and its associated world tour. She will perform at the Lucerna Music Bar in Prague on 25 February and the Sono Centre in Brno on 27 February.

MARCH

British rapper Stormzy is also coming to Prague. He will perform at the Small Sports Hall at Výstaviště on 4 March.

Danish songwriter Agnes Obel, whose songs are known for their distinctive melancholic atmosphere and studio pop settings, has written music for many TV series and videogames. She has released four albums and will appear in Prague on 9 March.

Dave Holland, a British double bass player, will put on what is sure to be one of the top jazz concerts of the season. He was instrumental in developing jazz fusion with Miles Davis long ago. He will appear at the Jazz Dock in Prague with the pianist Kenny Barron and the drummer Jonathan Blake on 15 March.

Joshua Redman will perform in the Sono Centre as one of the stars of the Brno Jazzfest on 15 March.
The five-member a cappella group Pentatonix, who sing everything from cover versions of pop songs to Christmas carols, has exploded in popularity thanks to their hit YouTube channel. They will be performing at O2 Universum in Prague on 22 March.

After a long break, Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne is return to the Czech capital. She will perform in Prague on 23 March.

APRIL

The English producer, musician, and winner of many awards James Blake has released several hit albums. He will present his latest at the Archa Theatre in Prague on 17 April.

The legendary band Nazareth is coming to celebrate their 50th anniversary in Prague in April, which will coincide with the release of their 24th studio album, Tattooed on My Brain. Their concert will take place in Forum Karlín on 20 April.

MAY

American singer Lizz Wright sails through blues, jazz, gospel, and folk styles with her contralto voice and will be one of the headliners of the Brno Jazzfest on 3 May.

English singer Harry Styles first gained fame as a member of One Direction. For the last four years, however, he has been performing as a solo artist. He will visit Prague’s O2 Arena on 13 May.

Truly a multitalented performer – a singer, a pianist, a showman, and an influential populariser of jazz music – Jamie Cullum will appear at O2 Universum in Prague on 12 May. You can look forward to his jazz piano skills as well as the great show he is well known for.

The innovative British synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys has been performing since the 1980s. They will present their greatest hits, including ‘Always on My Mind’, at Forum Karlín in Prague on 13 May.
Canadian pop singer Céline Dion has recently turned 50, but that has not slowed her down: she released her latest album, Courage, last year. She will present this very album at the O2 Arena in Prague on 21 May.

Yoann Lemoine, a French artist better known as Woodkid, started as a producer and director of music videos for stars like Lana del Rey and Pharrell Williams. But he has also written a growing collection of hit songs as well as his own album. He will perform his newest songs at Forum Karlín in Prague on 28 May.

English guitarist and singer Eric Clapton is coming back to Prague after seven years, accompanied by two keyboard players, vocalists, bass guitar player Nathan East, and excellent guitar player Doyle Bramhall. Will they perform hits such as ‘Layla’ or ‘Tears in Heaven’? You’ll have to see for yourself at the O2 Arena on 29 May.

O2 Arena will host another world-famous star just one day later. On 30 May, Nick Cave will present his new double album Ghosteen, which is the singer’s response to the tragic passing of his 15-year-old son.

JUNE

The Californian band System of a Down, founded by four friends with Armenian origins in 1990s, has not released a studio album for 14 years. They have split up several times but they have reunited, once again, to take the stage of the Prague O2 Arena on 16 June.

American punk rockers Green Day will be the headliner of Rock for People on 19 June, two weeks earlier than the festival’s usual date in order to accommodate the band’s schedule. The five-time Grammy winners and members of the Rock Hall of Fame will share the festival’s main stage with Weezer, The 1975, and Fall Out Boy.

One of the year’s largest concerts will be that of the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with both Axl Rose and guitarist Slash taking the stage together. Tens of thousands of people are expected at the Letňany Airport, the largest open-air stage in Prague, on 19 June.

Alicia Keys is returning to the concert stage after some time and will stop by Prague’s O2 Arena on 25 June.

On 24 June, Aerosmith will celebrate 50 years on the music scene at Prague O2 Arena. Don’t miss iconic singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry.

‘I am Here to Love’ is the message being spread as American singer and multi-instrumentalist Lenny Kravitz tours the world. He will come to the O2 Arena in Prague on 30 June.

JULY

The rock legends KISS will return to the Czech Republic one last time as part of their End of the Road farewell tour. You can see their unforgettable show at the O2 Arena in Prague on 1 July.

English bass guitar player and singer Sting had to cancel his concert in Slavkov u Brna last year due to illness. He will make up for it on 5 July when the programme will take place in the chateau’s garden as initially planned.

Iron Maiden will perform in Prague on 7 July. You can look forward to a classic rock concert with all it encompasses!

The solo debut by Thom Yorke, the 51-year-old English singer known as the frontman of Radiohead, will be one of the most anticipated concerts of the year. He will perform in Forum Karlín in Prague on 12 July.

SEPTEMBER

Australian indie rock songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana started as a busker and achieved fame thanks to YouTube, where their songs played with loopers have gained millions of views. They will appear in Prague for the first time on 5 September with a performance at the Tipsport Arena.

OCTOBER

One of the most successful – and best – singers of contemporary blues rock, Beth Hart, will perform in the newest state-of-the-art concert space in the Czech Republic, O2 Universum Prague, on 23 October.
The Norwegian pop legend A-ha will perform for the very first time in the Czech Republic on 28 October 2020. Don’t miss their greatest hit, ‘Take On Me’. Their concert will take place at the O2 Arena in Prague.

Lang Lang from China is a piano virtuoso with the popularity of a rock superstar. He will be accompanied by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Ion Marin from Romania. Lang will perform in Prague’s O2 Arena on 31 October.

NOVEMBER

Even though he has been talking about retirement since the end of 1990s, Ozzy Osbourne is simply not ready to say goodbye to sold-out arenas yet! He will return to Prague two years after his Farewell World Tour; catch him in Prague at the O2 Arena on 13 November.
