South Czech Philharmonic – Warhol and the Underground

Three days after the 30^th anniversary of the death of American pop artist Andy Warhol, the South Czech Philharmonic will perform arrangements of songs by The Velvet Underground, whose famous album featuring the singer Nico was produced by the artist half a century ago.

Lindsey Stirling

28 February and 1 March, Forum Karlín, Prague
Three years ago, the Czech concert of violinist, singer, and YouTube star Lindsey Sterling had to be relocated from the club to a sports arena due to high popular demand. For this reason, a second concert date was automatically added to the performer's appearance this year in Prague. And Sterling has been more than just a YouTube star for quite some time. Forbes magazine has included her in their list of the most influential figures under the age of thirty.
 

John McLaughlin

5 March, Forum Karlín, Prague
In the late 1960s and early 70s, this seventy-four-year-old guitarist began blending jazz and Indian music, and he was also one of the pioneers of fusion, combining jazz with rock and funk musical practices. McLaughlin will likely never again surpass the level of fame that his jazz-rock group, Mahavishnu Orchestra, achieved, however, he continues to record distinctive albums, which he will present in Prague during his tour.

21 March, Lucerna Music Bar, Prague
This twenty-nine-year-old Scottish songwriter—who claims allegiance to the legacy of Celtic music—has dominated the charts in a number of countries, and has sold over five million albums. This March, she will present songs from her upcoming studio album, Under Stars, at the Lucerna club.
 

Deep Purple

22 May, O2 Arena, Prague
The rock band that pioneered British hard rock and heavy metal music alongside Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath in the 1970s is returning to Prague once again. And once again, Deep Purple will play for an entire stadium of audience members. They have definitively labelled this year's tour as their last.
 

Depeche Mode

24 May, Eden Arena, Praha
The British group Depeche Mode is releasing their fourteenth studio album, titled Spirit. Depeche Mode will support their new album with an open-air concert in Prague.

 

Rammstein

28 and 29 May, Eden Arena, Prague
After two concerts in the O2 Arena, this time Rammstein will perform in an open-air concert at Prague's Eden Arena. Due to popular demand, the band will be performing two concerts. Rammstein is returning to Prague after almost six years.
 

Hans Zimmer

4 June, O2 Arena, Prague
The Oscar-winning composer of the music to the Pirates of the Caribbean films, The Da Vinci Code, The Dark Knight, and The Gladiator will appear in Prague's O2 Arena with a fifteen-member ensemble, an orchestra, and a choir, during which over sixty performers will take to the stage.
 

Linkin Park

11 June, Prague Exhibition Grounds, Prague
After ten years, the California band that debuted in 2000 with the album, Hybrid Theory, will return to Prague for the Aerodrome festival. Their songs blend heavy metal with hip hop. According to information provided by the band, Linkin Park has been working on their new album for the past two years.
 

System of a Down

12 June, O2 Arena, Prague
It has been four years since the last Czech concert of System of a Down, a band that combines heavy metal, electronica, and Eastern European musical influences at a sophisticated level. Frontman Serj Tankian—who is also a political activist and has been recognised for continuing to raise awareness about the Armenian genocide in the early 20^th century—has been working on his solo career for the past decade. System of a Down should be releasing their new album ahead of their concert in Prague.
 

Sting

23 June, Prague Exhibition Grounds, Prague
English singer, Sting, will be performing in an open-air concert as the headliner of the Metronome festival that will be taking place for the second time in Prague. After a number of detours—symphonic projects, carols, and musicals—Sting returned to rock music last year with his new album titled 57^th & 9^th.
 

Guns N’ Roses

4 July, Letiště Letňany Airport, Prague
One of the most popular hard rock bands from the late 1980s and early 90s continues its tour titled Not in This Lifetime (its first since 1993) with singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash, and bass guitarist Duff McKagan standing together onstage.
 

Norah Jones

19 July, Ostrava
Dramaturgically-speaking the most diverse and highest-quality domestic music festival, the Colours of Ostrava, has so far announced as its 2017 headliners the hit-makers Imagine Dragons, alternative British rock quartet Alt-J, recent Mercury award winner Benjamin Clementine, and jazz singer-songwriter Laura Mvula. Probably the most anticipated performer, however, is Nora Jones, whose music takes advantage of the influence of jazz and country music, and is highly popular in the Czech Republic.
 

Robbie Williams

19 August, Letiště Letňany Airport, Prague
Forty-two-year-old British singer and media celebrity Robbie Williams gained fame as a member of the pop group Take That, with whom he organised a comeback tour at the beginning of this decade. This year, Robbie Williams will stop in Prague as well, where British synthpop duo Erasure will join him during his open-air concert.
 

Diana Krall

20 September, DRFG Arena, Brno
When jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall makes her appearance in Brno, she will likely have already released her new studio album. On her recent album, Glad Rag Doll, Krall sang arrangements of songs from the 1920s and 30s, while on her latest album, Wallflower, she chose to feature pop and rock pieces from her childhood instead. Now the pianist has presumably returned to the genre of chamber jazz. She will be joined in Brno by a quartet of musicians.
