For the first time in its history, Lake Novomlýnská is to host the World Carp Classic fishing championship, which will be accompanied with a fishing equipment trade fair. The organizers are expecting tens of thousands of visitors.
In September the traditional wine growing area of Lower Morava will welcome not only wine lovers but also fishermen and angling fans. Lake Novomlýnská is going to stage the World Carp Classic fishing championship and showcase the skills of prominent fishing personalities – Ross Honey and Jakub Vágner. Lake Novomlýnská is an ideal spot for fishing, while the surrounding area of Pálava is famed for its perfect wine growing conditions. This place is a popular holiday destination visited by both Czechs and foreigners who come here enticed by the lure of excellent opportunities for swimming, hiking and cycling aided by good accessibility. From Prague it will take you just over two hours to get to Pálava. Then you can enjoy a fishing show, take a stroll along the vineyards or sample some of the local produce in a wine bar. Alternatively, you can pay a visit to the town situated in the centre of the wine-growing region – romantic Mikulov with a beautiful Baroque castle or go to explore the Moravian metropolis of Brno. But watch out, the Town Hall of the second largest city in the Czech Republic is guarded by a Dragon!
