700 Years of Charles IV – The Followers of St. George
What was life like in the days of brave knights, like Charles IV’s father, John of Luxembourg? The answer can be found within the murals in the Gothic part of Jindřichův Hradec Castle. The series of paintings is dedicated to the Legend of St. George.
The exposition will guide visitors through the medieval section of the castle, shed some light on the former use of its halls and showcase the knight culture of the early 14th century as well as the personality of Oldřich III of Hradec, one of the most prominent figures of his time. The tour will climax in the Legend of St. George Chamber, presenting the tale recounted by the legend along with its artistic significance and the context of its origin.
