An old watermill with a wooden floor, gallery, thatched roof, and original equipment in Hoslovice near Strakonice was set up as the first open air museum in South Bohemia. A visit there takes you back into the distant past. You can take part in the local Carnival, Easter celebrations, the harvest festival, feasts, and Christmas. Every year Hoslovice says farewell to the tourist season with a hog roast. You can have a look at how pork is prepared in the country, enjoy pork delicacies and freshly baked bread, and you can buy something nice as a souvenir.
