International Golden Trail: A Historic Trade Artery
Our tip: Visit the Mining Museum in Planá, where silver was once mined. The guided tour lasts about an hour and covers just under 200 metres.
Since the Middle Ages, the historic Golden Trail has connected Czechia with the Danube region, earning its name from the wealth it once brought—among other goods, it was used to transport salt. Today, it is a popular tourist destination. The route offers not only natural beauty but also a chance to delve into the region's history, with unique landmarks of what is known as the Green Roof of Europe. The Golden Trail promises a one-of-a-kind hiking experience: in the Pilsen Region, it spans 203 km and continues into South Bohemia.

Along the way, you can visit Dobrá Voda, home to a unique glass altar in the Church of St. Gunther, and Hartmanice, where you’ll find a restored synagogue.
Bohemian Forest: A Forgotten Natural Gem
Our tip: Visit the village of Přimda, home to the oldest stone castle in Bohemia.
For those seeking peace and tranquillity, the Bohemian Forest is an ideal choice. This remote region near the German border hides natural scenery, mountain streams, and remnants of vanished villages. The trail takes you to Lučina (formerly Grafenried), where you'll discover mysterious ruins and the atmosphere of times past. The surrounding landscape is perfect for peaceful walks and nature observation.
Castles in the Šumava National Park
Our tip: Another interesting site is the ruin of Rabí Castle, with its preserved fortifications.
The beautiful Šumava National Park also extends into the Plzeň Region, although most of it lies in South Bohemia. Several castles can be visited there. Among the most popular is Kašperk Castle, the highest royal castle in the Czech Republic, offering breathtaking views.
