Every year, the European Union chooses three cities that are awarded the title of the European Capital of Culture. In 2028, there will be one city from France and one city from the Czech Republic.
The Czech semi-finalists included Brno, Liberec, České Budějovice, and Broumov. The last two made it to the finale that will take place next year. However, the participation in the competition itself is a guarantee of various cultural programmes in these attractive tourist destinations.
