When planning your holiday, make sure you choose one of the places where they won’t frown at your offspring, but instead prepare an entertaining animation program to enable weary parents to have a really good rest. We are bringing you five tips for accommodation, where you can enjoy a family holiday with all the trimmings.
1. Lipno
Lipno provides entertainment for the whole family! On bikes, on the water, on the ropes and in the treetops. The recreational area in South Bohemia has a great reputation throughout the whole of the Czech Republic. It is located near the largest expanse of water in the country and therefore the Lipno Dam is sometimes referred to as the Czech sea. Nonetheless, thanks to excellent skiing conditions it is a much sought-after destination even in winter. In summer you can set off for some fun to the Climbing Centre or saddle your bike to explore the beauty of South Bohemia. An exceptional experience can be had at the Treetop Walkway – a unique structure that will take you high above the top of the forest where it is located. And what’s more, it is open all year round. Accommodation suitable for families with children in the Lipno area is offered for example by Marina apartments, which provide a high level of comfort even for larger families.
Lipno is a great starting point for exploring South Bohemia. You can embark on a trip to Šumava National Park or to the fabulous town of Český Krumlov inscribed on the UNESCO list.
2. Fairytale Village of Podlesíčko
Once upon a time there was an unusual village in the picturesque landscape of Žďárské vrchy (Peaks). This could be the beginning of a happy fairytale holiday, which you and your children can experience in the Fairytale Village of Podlesí Hotel. One part of the resort is dedicated to none other than them. You can stay in the fairytale cottage of Snow White, Red Riding Hood, Mathew, the Blacksmith or in a tree-stump shaped hut.
From the hotel you can set out to discover the beauty of the rugged and romantic Vysočina (Highlands), situated between East Bohemia and Moravia. Not far from here you will find two UNESCO sites. Going north, you can visit charming Litomyšl and its unique Renaissance chateau, ranking among the largest in the Czech Republic. A southbound trip will take you to Zelená Hora (Green Mountain) near Žďár nad Sázavou and its site of pilgrimage with symbolic architecture. Outdoor adventures can be had at the Žďárské vrchy (peaks), while fun and entertainment are promised by various events organized by the Fairytale Village of Podlesíčko.
3. Valachy Resort
Great facilities for an enjoyable holiday are offered to families with children by the Valachy Resort the whole year round. Thanks to its closeness to excellent skiing conditions in the ski resort as well as thermal pools and resourceful organizers children will have fun all year round. The resort along with its hotels - Lanterna, Galik and Horal are situated in the beautiful landscape of the Beskid Mountains. Not far from here lies Velké Karlovice, a genuine Wallachian village with everything that goes with it; pasture land with herds of sheep and cottages in the mountains, which are still used for farming, along with shrines and crosses dotted around the area.
You can set out for a trip to Ostrava, which is about one hour drive away, to explore the hustle and bustle of an industrial city and discover its unexpected beauty or pay a visit to the local zoo. Alternatively, you can take a trip to enjoy the romantic charm of Kroměříž and its gardens, inscribed on the list of World Cultural Heritage. If you and your children are more interested in modern urban architecture or cycling, then head for Zlín and Bata's Canal.
4. Babylon Centre
Accommodation, entertainment and relaxation can all be found under one roof in the Babylon Centre in Liberec. Stretching over an area of 30 000 m2, it offers accommodation facilities, lots of fun in a theme park or bouts of splashing and swimming in an aquapark. There is a wide selection of activities, from a laser game or bowling to the 4D Cinema, and from a golf simulator to a relaxation garden along with iQpark and iQlandia.
One can spend days and days in the Babylon Centre and still find things that they haven’t yet tried. Nonetheless, if you want to venture out, to see some scenery, a trip to Ještěd is an absolute must. On top of its peak there is a television transmitter with a hotel and a restaurant, which received the highest award from the International Union of Architects and is also considered one of the seven wonders of the Czech Republic. In addition, Liberec is also a gateway into the arms of the Jizerské Mountains.
5. Dolní Morava
In the foothills of the Jeseníky Mountains, you will find a sports resort, enjoying great and ever growing popularity in the Czech Republic. Depending on the season, visitors can choose either winter or summer activities. The snow-covered centre offers great ski slopes and ski lifts, snow park, Fun Line, a toboggan run and ski school, along with cross-country ski trails. In summer you can experience a goodly batch of thrills in the local adrenaline park or the forest adventure park.
Children will be able to frolic in the Mammoth Waterpark, on the bobsleigh track or in the Fun Park designed just for them. Open all year round, the unique structure of the Treetop Walkway commanding magnificent views is situated near the upper station of the Sněžník chair lift. You can easily negotiate the top of the structure even with a pram.
