CZECHIA ON WATER WAVES
Get Hooked on Czech Fishponds and Fishery
Just look for a moment at the surface of the hundreds of fishponds of the Třeboň UNESCO biosphere reserve - the kingdom of Czech carp - and you will understand why we call the area an "aquarium"...
The real symbol of South Bohemia is the fishponds. Because of them, the Třeboň region is even called the land of the double sky: one over your head, the other mirrored on the surface of hundreds of ponds, including the Rožmberk - the world's largest fishpond. As a traditional centre of fish farming, the Třeboň region, which is even a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, offers opportunities for fishing, visits to ceremonial fish harvests and, of course, gourmet experiences. You have to try carp chips and other specialities from this scaly star of the South Bohemian ponds, which is not missing even on the Czech Christmas Eve table.

Třeboň Pond System - UNESCO Water Gem

The listed landscape of Třeboňsko, a part of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves, can be found in South Bohemia, in the flatlands between Jindřichův Hradec, Tábor and České Budějovice. Here you will find hundreds of ponds, rivers and canals, gradually built up from the 15th century.
