The Central Bohemian town of Beroun prides itself on ages-old pottery traditions. The local skilled artisans are mainly famous for their red pottery decorated with natural white motifs, which were prized by people such as Emperor Rudolf II or William of Rosenberg. You can see and buy these replicas of old gems for souvenirs at the city information center on Hus Square. One of the city’s most popular events is the spring and autumn pottery market, where two hundred ceramic and pottery workshops from all over the Czech Republic present their wares. This event is accompanied by concerts, degustation of old-time Czech specialties, beer and Bohemian and Moravian wines.
