The first annual folk festival, one of the oldest events of its type in the Czech Republic, took place in 1946. Since then, people come from all over the world to Strážnice every last weekend in June to have fun and see the festival shows in amphitheaters and venues in the castle park and in the Strážnice open-air museum - the Museum of Southeast Moravian Villages. You too can enjoy the beauty of folk songs, dances and costumes in the parade and a variety of other programs. You can even try dances from exotic corners of the world and sing and dance folk music together. The festival is accompanied by the children’s folklore festival Strážnice Children and a competition for the best dancer of the Slovacky verbuňk, a folk dance registered on the list of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
