Frida Kahlo: Her Photographs
Frida Kahlo had a strong relationship with photography. Both her father and grandfather were professional photographers and she used photography in many ways. The exhibition presents photographs from Frida Kahlo’s estate that have not been made public until recently. They are now organised and divided into six theme-based sections. The exhibition does not strive to chronologically illustrate her life, but it focuses on her artistic background, her native country and the characteristics of her era. The displayed photographs show her origins, the blue house – Casa blu, politics, revolution and Diego Rivera, her injured body and Frida’s loves and friendships. Today, these historical documents also speak of art and the specific views of other artists, whose photographs are also included in the collection, such as Man Ray, Martin Munkácsi, Edward Weston, Brassaï, Tina Modotti and Gisèle Freund.
