These traditional celebrations commemorate the years 1308 – 1318, when the queen and dowager Eliška Rejčka chose Hradec Králové for her residence. Every year this rare visit also sees a fireworks procession, medieval fair with samples of traditional crafts, a knights’ camp, medieval tavern offering delicacies from that time, and of course musicians, dancers, jugglers, fencers and street theater. Other big draws include the torture room and examples of torture, with a big fireworks display concluding the celebrations.
