Janáček May Ostrava
One of the highlights of the cultural season in the Moravian-Silesian Region is the Janáček May International Music Festival, the largest and most important festival, named after the famous composer. The first was held in 1976 and since then it has traditionally opened with Janáček's Sinfonietta. Classical music is accompanied by jazz concerts, dance performances and a spoken word cycle. In addition to the conventional halls of Ostrava, festival performances are also held in non-traditional areas, such as the courtyard of the Silesian-Ostrava Château or at the Landek Park Mining Museum.
