Collegium 1704 is a Baroque Orchestra, which is devoted to the interpretation of early music on historical instruments with a predominant focus on the high Baroque period, especially on the works of the composer Jan Dismas Zelenka and his contemporaries. The series begins with the performance of the most acclaimed countertenor of these days, Bejuna Mehta (October 21, 2014). After him, the Rudolfinum shall present the renowned interpreter of Baroque music, Canadian soprano Karina Gauvin (November 18, 2014). This will be followed by a series of three concerts that are dedicated to ceremonial masses: The Czech premiere of Zelenka's Divi Xaverii Mass in counterpoint with Magnificat by Johann Sebastian Bach (December 15 and 16, 2014), Mozart's Mass in C minor (February 24, 2015) and especially Bach's Mass in B minor (March 30 and 31, 2015), by the performance of which Collegium 1704 will commemorate the tenth anniversary of its founding. The whole cycle will culminate with first rate interpretations of the refined music of French opera delivered by the top female performer of French Baroque Sandrine Piau (April 28, 2015).
